My mom and I celebrated our 20th anniversary on Dec. 23, 2007.  Yes - that’s right.  On December 23rd, 1987, my mom was living on the Upper West Side of NY, and as she entered her apartment building after a long day of work, I was sitting with John, the building’s superintendent, in a shoe box with an empty can of cat food.  Someone in the building had seen me sitting in the box on a nearby street corner two days in a row, and finally carried me home with him and left me sitting in poor John’s office.  John knew that my mommy had two other cats, Sushi & Mooshoo, and also knew she was a sucker!  I was literally so frozen I couldn’t even move (keep in mind I had been sitting outside on the street for at least 2 days in the middle of winter), and I was covered with fleas and starving.  My mom walked into John’s office and locked eyes with me and the rest is history.

She took me upstairs, defleaed me and fed me.  She took me to the vet first thing the next morning.  He thought that I was a kitten, but when she brought me back a few days later (I had one undescended testicle that needed to be treated...cool huh?) he reexamined me and said I was probably older - maybe 1 1/2 - 3 years old.  So that makes me around 22 years old now.

As I told an animal psychic who came to visit us recently, I have lived many lives, but never experienced as great a love as I have for and from my mom.  We have been through the mill together, and I intend to come right back to her in my next lifetime.  I got very sick 2 1/2 years ago and the vet suggested my mom “put me down”.  But she refused, telling the vet that I was still eating and still grooming myself.  The vet suggested that I get IV fluids at home.  I have 2 girlfriends, Alana and Zowie, and between the two of them, I receive fluids at least 5 times a week.  It has been a miracle, and although I give my mom and the ladies a hard time, I know they love me.

My sister Mooshoo died in 1994, and my brother Sushi died in 2000.  In 1998 my sister Ida came to live with us, and she is still here.  In fact, we are sitting by our mom, right next to the computer, as she is taking dictation from me.

Even people who don’t like cats fall in love with me.  It’s often been said that I am not like a real cat - but more like a “cartoon cat”. Thank you for getting to know me a little bit - I look forward to sharing more in the future.  But right now, my mom has to go change my water and get me something to eat!
