Our fancy-pants mission statement:

Animal Internet exists to give all animals, domestic and wild, a virtual soapbox to express their opinions, free from oppressive human oversight.

So you’re a clearinghouse for the thoughts of animals?
Is THE REPUBLIC nothing more than a clearinghouse for Roman philosophy?  It is our hope Animal Internet will be seen in the same light as Plato’s master work - not a mere “clearinghouse” but rather a form of Socratic dialogue to help future generations examine hard questions concerning Justice and the pitfalls of regressive government.  Plus, we make it easy to share pictures, something THE REPUBLIC cannot claim.

What’s the difference between an ANIMATORIAL and an OPINION?
An ANIMATORIAL is an editorial written by an animal.  An OPINION is a short opinion (duh) written in 120 characters of less.  Animatorials are submitted for publication whereas Opinions are posted by users and appear immediately.  Opinions can be either humorous or serious, a question or just a statement.  They can refer to something current in the news or be about something general and timeless.  We don’t care. The only rule is that they not be too self-promotional or spam.

You LEFT out the “L” in the middle of animatorial.
We did that to trick search engines looking for editorials on “Anima” (a Japanese style of cartoon graphics) into listing our site.

I already have some pages on another “pet” site.  Why should I join here?
We love those other animal sites too (Dogster, Unitedcats, Petbrags...) Many of these sites have things Animal Internet can’t match.  So go to Dogster for your dog specific needs or Unitedcats when you need a shot of feline cuteness.  We won’t be offended.  THEN come to Animal Internet and read what animals THINK.  Comment on a few Animatorials and tell us why you agree.  Or disagree.  Write an Opinion and share with the world what made you happy today.  Or angry.  Heck, tell the world what you think about those other animal sites!

Why didn’t you call it Pet Internet?
Pet is a term that denotes ownership and subjugation. Although we use the word regularly it doesn’t mean we like it.  A hundred years ago, would African Americans have joined a site called Slave Internet?  A harsh example but one that effectively illustrates our point.  For more on this go HERE

What’s a Typing Assistant?
A Typing Assistant is a human who has agreed to do the typing for one of more animals.

Can a Typing Assistant assist more than one animal?
I guess you didn’t bother reading the last sentence.  Yes.  In fact we recommend all animals living in the same place have the same Typing Assistant.

Can animals in the same house have different Typing Assistants?
Yes, as long as each Typing Assistant has a different email address.  The site is set up so that one Typing Assistant can easily switch back and forth between animal profiles (posting an Opinion for one animal then quickly switching profiles to leave a comment as another...) so why bother having to log out and back in again each time a different animal wishes to speak?

Can an animal have more than one Typing Assistant?
No.

Can a Typing Assistant post their opinion too?
No.  Typing Assistants must post only what the animal they’re typing for says.  Everything on the site must be from the point of view of an animal.  No humans allowed.

Do the animals I add to the site have to be real?
Is Daffy Duck real?  He lives in the minds and hearts of millions of children, right?  It sort of depends on how you define real.  Whatever you decide to be the answer is between you and your tin god.

I’m a dog. I hate cats. I’m not backing down.
Feel free to like or dislike whomever you want. It’s natural to want to gravitate towards your own kind.  If we didn’t, there’d be no Chinatowns.
