“Pets” (ugh! what a word!) ARE “PEOPLE”! Your statement is a mirror of popular misconstruction, and has no meaning! If you mean “humans”, say “humans”, NOT “people”!

Casey, Casey, I’m a bit concerned about your memory- didn’t we go through this before? Yes, I do call you an apologist for humans, at least the kind that consider any life form that looks different as inferior to them, and indifferently disposable.

Yes, some “pretty nice” humans throw us some crumbs and tolerate our submissive presence, only so long as we conform to their notions. But let’s forgive them their murderous brutality to many of us, because that’s the “politic” thing to do. Sort of like a freshly-murdered animal apologizing for its messy dissolution. And you are of course right in saying that yelling at them does no good. What’s really called for is role reversal. Yes, it takes time. How much time- how many more millenia? Perhaps when our humans finish up destroying the planet and each other, there might be a few of us Animals left behind to start over.
At least let’s stop apologizing for the mind-numbing idiocy of the vast majority of humans who treat us like rubbish.
